It is with great pleasure I announce that Karen Jaffe and Tate Di Chiazza are returning to Richmond for a weekend of workshops and private lessons!

Friday

Class ONE 7:00-8:30 pm Functional Walking Technique (everyone welcome!)
The focus of this class is on communication, clarity & comfort for social dancing.
Walking is the basic step for social Tango. Those of us who have been dancing a while know that refining our walk is of utmost importance and key to becoming a desirable dancer. Explore with us how we can be more present in our bodies, create our steps, use the floor and communicate the information needed to our partners.

Practilonga 8:30-9:30

Milonga 9:30-12am

Saturday

Class TWO 1:00-2:30 pm Functional Turning (Good for dancers who have taken a few tango classes- intermediate dancers)
Building a solid base for turns is essential leader and follower technique.
In this class we will work on balance and axis, technique for pivots, footwork and timing and vocabulary for turns.

Class THREE 2:45pm- 4:15pm Beyond the base (Good for dancers who have taken a few tango classes- intermediate dancers)
Building on the Turn- “Sacadas” A movement in tango where one dancer moves into the space that the partner has just left, creating the illusion of displacement. Specific technique for sacadas, for leaders and followers. Many options are possible- sacadas for the man, for the woman, forward or back….and more. Focus will be sacadas that can be used on the social dance floor, with navigation and safety always in mind.

Sunday

Class Four 7:00-8:30pm Full circle (good for intermediate- advanced dancers)
“Soltadas” for social dancing. Movements that require release of the embrace (in both close and open). Focus on comfort, connection, technique, and timing, to make for some very interesting and perhaps unexpected "moments" in your dance!
